Speaker Bios
Eleanor Lyon, Ph.D., is Director of the Institute for Violence Prevention and Reduction at the University of Connecticut, School of Social Work. She has worked on issues related to violence against women as an advocate and researcher since 1974, including two years coordinating a domestic violence shelter program. She co-authored Safety Planning with Battered Women. Among many other national, state and local efforts, Eleanor helped to coordinate the “Documenting Our Work” project, was evaluator of VAWnet, and is an evaluation consultant for the National Center on Domestic Violence, Trauma and Mental Health. She is currently completing work on a federally-funded study of the experiences of domestic violence survivors in shelter.
