The Alberta Council of Women's Shelters say no matter who wins the upcoming election - - a coordinated plan to help women and children in crisis is a must.
Jan Reimer with the ACWS says housing and funding for violence against women now seems to be an after thought for all the different government departments.
Reimer tells the Corus Radio Newsroom she thinks this is, in part, because domestic violence is something that remains almost invisible to those in government.
"It isn't an issue where you've got victims in MP's offices. It's one where it's easily put under the rug and organizations like us try to make sure people are aware of it."
Reimer says a coherent, comprehensive strategy to deal with violence against women and provide better housing for those in crisis would be welcome from any party.
